Your toddler's day blends reassuring routines, meals, naps, and transitions with open-ended play, daily outdoor free time play, music, stories, and cozy moments with classroom guides. About Our Toddler Child Care Program
We know toddlerhood can be a whirlwind, one minute they're laughing, the next they're insisting on doing everything "all by myself." Our toddler program in Parker, CO, is designed to honor this big stage of growth with patience, warmth, and structure, giving children room to explore while still feeling safe and deeply cared for. As an early learning center with decades of experience in the early childhood field, we've seen how a consistent, nurturing environment and amazing curriculum can turn this energetic age into an amazing experience for both kids and parents. High-quality early childhood education during the toddler years has been shown to support stronger language and social skills and long-term school success. At Parker Landing, our child care approach blends research with heart and caring classroom guides who help each child thrive in ways that feel joyful, natural, and perfectly suited to their age.
From Ages 12 Months to 2 and a Half Years: Supporting Early Childhood Development
Our toddler program focuses on all the tiny, everyday moments that help Colorado children grow, sharing blocks with a friend, stomping in a puddle during daily outdoor play, or proudly feeding themselves at lunch. Grounded in early childhood education research, CDC developmental milestones, and best practices, our age-appropriate curriculum supports academic, language, social-emotional skills, and physical development in ways that feel like play. Here's a look at what your little one will experience and learn in our toddler program.
Sensory Exploration
Your child will explore water, sand, play-dough, and other sensory materials that engage their senses, building nerve connections in the brain and supporting early learning. Sensory play has been shown to strengthen language, thinking, and motor skills, making it a powerful part of early childhood education.
Language Foundations
Classroom guides talk, sing, and read with toddlers all day long, turning simple moments, like washing hands or putting on shoes, into chances to build vocabulary and two- to three-word phrases. By this age, many children begin combining words and labeling familiar objects, and our early learning center is designed to encourage those exciting leaps.
Gross Motor Skills
For toddlers, tummy time becomes running, climbing, kicking balls, and conquering small steps, all of which strengthen physical development and coordination. Plenty of safe movement and daily outdoor play help children build confidence in their bodies and reach key developmental milestones, such as walking, jumping, and navigating playground equipment.
Fine Motor Development
Your little one will practice feeding themselves with spoons, stacking blocks, turning pages, and beginning simple art activities, all of which support hand strength and coordination. These fine motor skills are an important bridge between toddlerhood and later preschool, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten tasks like drawing, writing, and using classroom tools.
Emotional Security & Comfort
Our teachers/classroom guides offer warm reassurance, hugs, and calm guidance when big feelings show up, helping toddlers learn that it's safe to feel and to ask for help. Research shows that co-regulation, adults helping children manage their emotions, lays the groundwork for stronger emotional regulation later on, and that's at the heart of our nurturing environment.
Early Social Awareness
In our Parker, CO, toddler child care classrooms, children practice sharing toys, taking turns, and noticing friends' feelings. These everyday interactions support the social side of early childhood development, helping toddlers build empathy and friendships that make their day feel joyful and connected.
Cause-and-Effect Discovery
Simple experiments, like pouring water between cups or building a tower and knocking it down, help children explore cause and effect in a playful way. This kind of exploration supports problem-solving and curiosity, both key outcomes of high-quality early childhood education and a sign that your child is ready for more complex thinking in preschool and pre-kindergarten.
Healthy Rhythms & Routines
Each toddler's day follows a predictable flow of meals, naps, free time, and group activities, giving them the security of knowing what comes next. These routines help children build confidence, self-regulation, and independence, skills that will prepare your little one for the more structured days ahead in preschool and kindergarten.
Outdoor Calm & Natural Observation
Weather permitting, toddlers enjoy daily outdoor play in safe, age-appropriate spaces where they can run, climb, and explore nature. Time outside supports physical development, overall well-being, and healthy sleep, while giving kids space to burn energy and experience the beauty of Colorado's light and seasons.

My son was five when he started here and had only been at in home daycare previously. I wasn't sure how it was going to go, and was prepared for a tough transition. From day one he's bounced through the front door with a smile on his face. He loves going here and the teachers are all so nice and welcoming. I feel very comfortable leaving him. You can see they truly care about him.
